Rwanda unveil 31-man squad as Stephen Constantine begins second spell
Stephen Constantine has wasted little time in outlining his ambitions after returning as head coach of Rwanda national football team, declaring “unfinished business” as he named a 31-man squad for the upcoming FIFA Series 2026.
The 63-year-old Englishman, appointed on a two-year deal, is back for a second spell in charge of Amavubi following the dismissal of Adel Amrouche in January.
His return signals a renewed push to elevate Rwanda’s standing on the international stage, having previously guided the team to a FIFA ranking of 64 during his earlier tenure.
Speaking ahead of his first assignment, Constantine made his intentions clear.
“I do have unfinished business in Rwanda. We qualified for AFCON but later fell short, and now I am back to finish the job,” he said. “I am glad to be back here. I still believe we can do better, and I believe Rwanda can be even stronger than it was eleven years ago.”
Constantine officially resumed duties on March 16 and now turns his focus to the FIFA Series, an initiative designed to provide competitive international friendlies between nations from different confederations.
The 2026 edition will feature 48 teams across multiple host nations, with Rwanda stepping in to stage two series following the withdrawal of Mauritius.
Kigali will be one of the focal points of the tournament, with matches scheduled between March 23 and 31. Rwanda have been drawn in Group A alongside Grenada national football team, Kenya national football team and Estonia national football team.
Amavubi will open their campaign against Grenada at the Amahoro Stadium on March 27.
