Kylian Mbappe could return for Real Madrid’s clash with Manchester City
Kylian Mbappe is in line to return for Real Madrid’s Champions League last-16 second leg against Manchester City, but his involvement will ultimately depend on how he feels closer to kick-off.
The French forward has been out since February 21 with a left knee sprain, an issue that had been causing discomfort since December, forcing him to miss five games, including Madrid’s 3-0 first-leg win inspired by a Federico Valverde hat-trick.
Mbappe began with individual work earlier in the week before stepping up to full training with the group, and recent sessions have shown encouraging signs, with his pain easing and recovery progressing without the need for surgery.
Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa confirmed that Mbappe will travel to Manchester but stressed that any final call will be guided by the player’s condition, saying, “It depends on his feelings… We’ll make a final decision soon.”
Given Madrid’s healthy first-leg advantage and a desire to avoid setbacks, Mbappe is expected to start on the bench and be used as an impact option if he gets the green light.
