Leny Yoro hails new mentality at Manchester United
Leny Yoro believes Manchester United have rediscovered their edge under interim boss Michael Carrick after a crucial 3–1 win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
The result tightened United’s grip on a UEFA Champions League spot, pushing them three points clear of Villa and extending their lead over Liverpool and Chelsea with eight games left.
After Casemiro opened the scoring and Villa hit back, Yoro was impressed with how the team reacted in a pressure moment. “I’m delighted with the way the team kept their heads up even after conceding. The character throughout the squad is really good at this moment. The fans helped us to stand up after the equaliser, and we went on to use that energy to score the last two goals.”
Bruno Fernandes then set up Matheus Cunha to restore control before Benjamin Sesko came off the bench to wrap up the win late on. Yoro also pointed to a key defensive intervention, saying: “For me, the tackle was like a goal. Really happy with the team today. We really wanted the clean sheet, but in the end we won the same, so all good.”
Yoro also praised club captain Fernandes as a “top-class player” whose leadership drives standards on and off the pitch.
