Rwanda FA appoint Stephen Constantine as new head coach until 2028
The Rwanda Football Federation has officially appointed seasoned manager Stephen Constantine as the new head coach of their national team.
The announcement comes as the federation seeks to build on its recent progress and prepare the team for key upcoming competitions.
Constantine has signed a two-year contract with the option for extension, contingent on performance and the strategic direction of the national team. The experienced tactician is expected to formally take charge on March 16, 2026, when he will begin working directly with the current Amavubi squad.
His immediate focus will be on preparing Rwanda for the FIFA Series, scheduled to be held later this month in Kigali. The competition offers an important platform for the national team to test its squad, integrate new players, and lay the groundwork for longer-term objectives in African and international football.
Constantine brings a wealth of experience to the role, having managed several national teams over his career. His appointment signals the federation’s commitment to bringing structure, tactical discipline, and international experience to the Amavubi setup. Federation officials expressed optimism that Constantine’s leadership will help the team compete more effectively on both continental and global stages.
The coach inherits a squad eager to prove itself under a new regime. The Amavubi will look to blend existing talent with emerging players to build a cohesive and competitive team capable of performing in the FIFA Series and upcoming qualification campaigns.
Speaking after his appointment, Constantine expressed his excitement about the opportunity: “I am thrilled to take charge of the Rwanda national team. My aim is to work with the players to prepare them for the upcoming challenges and help the team reach its full potential. I look forward to starting this journey in Kigali and contributing to the growth of Rwandan football.”
Rwandan fans will be keen to see how the Amavubi adapt to Constantine’s philosophy, with expectations high that the new leadership will inspire improved performances and a clear vision for the national team’s future.
