African legends hail CAF African Schools Football Championship for nurturing future stars
African football greats are lining up to praise the CAF African Schools Football Championship, celebrating it as a powerful grassroots platform that is shaping the continent’s next generation of talent.
As the competition heads towards its fourth Continental Finals next month, it continues to stand out for blending high-level football development with a strong focus on education for young players.
Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan, an ambassador for the programme, has repeatedly stressed how vital it is for youngsters to balance their football dreams with school. “Education is the key. They should focus on education well. Of course, they have the talent, and it will follow later,” he said, urging players to keep their studies at the centre of their plans.
The championship has also impressed former TP Mazembe and DR Congo goalkeeper Robert Kidiaba, who says the quality on display reflects the rising standard of African football.
