Real Madrid ready to revive interest in Ibrahima Konate if Liverpool talks collapse
Real Madrid could return for Ibrahima Konate if his contract situation at Liverpool remains unresolved, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Spanish giants previously walked away from talks in 2025 after the French defender struggled for form at Anfield, but they are still searching for an experienced centre-back, with David Alaba set to leave.
Romano reports that Madrid is now closely watching Konate’s future, with Liverpool currently not in active negotiations over a new deal.
The club’s last proposal is said to be still on the table, yet Konate and his agent have not responded, leaving his long-term position uncertain. If Liverpool fails to come back with an improved offer, the 26-year-old could eventually depart as a free agent.
That scenario would open the door for Real Madrid to move again, this time without a transfer fee. For Madrid, Konate’s age, Champions League experience, and physical profile still make him an attractive option to reinforce their back line, especially as they plan for life after Alaba.
