Senegal FA approves $1 million support package for clubs, clears referees arrears

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has announced significant financial measures following an Emergency Committee meeting on Friday, 27 February 2026.

Among the key resolutions, the Federation approved a financial package exceeding $1 million to support clubs participating in national and regional competitions.

The move is aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of affiliated clubs, ensuring they have the resources needed to compete effectively across Senegal’s football landscape. This injection of funds is expected to cover a range of expenses, from logistics and training to player welfare and infrastructure development.

In addition to club support, the Committee addressed the long-standing issue of arrears owed to referees for the 2024-2025 season. The Federation has instructed the relevant departments, in coordination with the Senegalese Professional Football League (Ligue Sénégalaise Professionnelle de Football), to streamline payment schedules and ensure regular, timely disbursements in the future.

These decisions reflect the Federation’s commitment to professionalizing football operations in Senegal, providing financial stability for both clubs and officials, and fostering an environment conducive to competitive growth at all levels of the sport.

The emergency session signals a proactive approach by Senegalese football authorities to address financial and administrative challenges, ensuring the continued development of the game nationally.
