Singida Black Stars suspend Nigerian goalkeeper Amas Obasogie amid match-fixing allegations

Singida Black Stars have suspended Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie for three months amid allegations of match-fixing.

The decision to suspend the shot stopper is to allow a thorough investigation into the claims and to ensure due process before any final decisions are reached.

The Tanzanian outfit outlined that while midfielder Khalid Aucho had also been handed a three-month suspension for issues relating to indiscipline and absenteeism, Obasogie’s case is reportedly more serious and requires careful scrutiny.

The club emphasised that the temporary suspension is not a final judgement but a procedural measure aimed at preserving the integrity of the investigation. “We are committed to a fair and comprehensive process, ensuring all evidence is considered before any conclusions are drawn,” the statement read.

Obasogie, a Nigerian international, has yet to publicly comment on the allegations. The development has drawn significant attention in Tanzanian and Nigerian football circles, as the investigation unfolds and the football community awaits clarity on the goalkeeper’s future with Singida Black Stars.

The case highlights the club’s commitment to upholding discipline and transparency while maintaining competitive integrity in the Tanzanian Premier League.
