Former Wydad AC captain Yahya Jabrane is undoubtedly confident Walid Regragui can inspire Morocco to another impressive World Cup feat after a historic 2022 semifinal feat in Qatar.

The global showpiece, to be co-hosted by United States, Canada and Mexico will feature an expanded 48 countries, with Morocco securing one of Africa’s automatic nine slots for the tournament.

The North African powerhouse are paired in Group C alongside record World Cup winners, Brazil, European side, Scotland and Haiti.

Morocco will open their account at the global showpiece in a high-stake clash against Brazil, followed by Scotland. The Atlas Lions will wrap up their group game against Haiti.

Amid uncertainty about Regragui’s future, the 34-year-old midfielder, who plies his trade for UAE outfit, Ajman Club has urged the Moroccan FA to retain him, stressing he can repeat their 2022 World Cup success in the North America.

“Regragui is one of the great coaches who have contributed a lot to Moroccan football,” Jabrane said. “Keeping Regragui is in Morocco’s best interest, and he can repeat the achievement that was accomplished in the 2022 Qatar World Cup by finishing fourth.”

“I support Regragui until death, and I am ready to serve my national team at any time,” he added, signaling both loyalty and commitment to Morocco’s cause.

With Regragui’s position now reaffirmed and key players like Jabrane offering their backing, the Atlas Lions appear focused on regrouping and building momentum ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
