Egypt star Omar Marmoush emerges as first alternative for Spanish giants Barcelona
Spanish giants Barcelona will consider a move for Egyptian international forward Omar Marmoush if they fail to land Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid in the summer.
Despite the approach of presidential elections at FC Barcelona, the club’s sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick have already aligned on a strategic plan to strengthen the squad, with a central striker identified as the top priority.
Barcelona’s dream target remains the Argentine strike, but the deal is considered extremely complicated and costly, with Atletico Madrid reportedly demanding around €150 million.
Given the financial and logistical challenges of signing Álvarez, Barcelona’s management has begun exploring alternative options. Among these, Omar Marmoush of Manchester City has emerged as the leading candidate. The Catalan coaching staff believes the Egyptian forward would integrate seamlessly into their system due to his mobility, technical skills, and versatility across multiple attacking positions.
Barcelona is monitoring the situation closely and is aware that Marmoush is open to considering new opportunities. This season, Marmoush has featured in 24 matches for Manchester City, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
As the club navigates the transfer window amid leadership changes, securing a forward who fits both the tactical vision and financial parameters will be crucial for Barcelona’s ambitions in La Liga and the Champions League. The coming weeks are expected to reveal whether Marmoush will become the club’s primary reinforcement or if alternative targets will be pursued.
