Premier League clubs circle as Morocco youth Keeper Yanis Benchaouch pops up on Aston Villa’s radar

Moroccan youth international Yanis Benchaouch is attracting growing interest from the Premier League ahead of the summer transfer window, with several English clubs monitoring the highly rated teenage goalkeeper.

Africasoccer.com has learnt that Aston Villa are among the frontrunners tracking the 19-year-old shot-stopper. The Midlands side reportedly view Benchaouch as a long-term investment who could strengthen their goalkeeping department and add depth to the squad.

Villa currently rely on World Cup-winning Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez as their undisputed first choice, while Dutch goalkeeper Marco Bizot provides additional cover. However, with an eye on the future, the club’s hierarchy are said to be keen on securing a young and promising talent capable of developing into a top-level option in the coming years.

Interest is not limited to Villa alone. AFC Bournemouth are also believed to be monitoring Benchaouch’s progress, fueling speculation that a move to England’s top flight could represent the next major step in his blossoming career.

Should he make the switch to Villa Park, Benchaouch would be expected to compete and develop rather than immediately challenge for the starting role, especially under the management of Unai Emery. Nonetheless, he would be viewed as a strategic long-term addition with significant upside.

Benchaouch joined AS Monaco in 2021 and has steadily progressed through the club’s academy ranks. He has featured prominently for Monaco’s youth and under-21 sides, though he is yet to make his senior debut in Ligue 1.

On the international stage, the young goalkeeper has also enhanced his reputation with the Morocco U-20 national team. He delivered standout performances at the recent Under-20 World Cup in Chile, playing a pivotal role in Morocco’s historic maiden triumph at the tournament. His composure, reflexes and leadership between the posts have since drawn the attention of several European clubs eager to invest in one of North Africa’s most promising goalkeeping talents.
