Algeria: Billel Dziri confirmed as USM Khenchela head coach
Billel Dziri has been appointed head coach of USM Khenchela, the club confirmed in an official statement, ending speculation linking him with other Ligue 1 Mobilis sides.
Dziri, who had previously been associated with possible moves to USM Alger and MC Oran, will now take charge of the Khenchela-based outfit as they continue their campaign in the top flight.
In a communiqué published on its official website, USM Khenchela outlined the structure of the new technical team.
“The team’s technical staff will include, alongside head coach Billel Dziri, Hadou Moulay as assistant coach and Ahmed Khalil Khebbab as physical trainer, with Rabie Bouazzi remaining as goalkeeping coach.”
The club also confirmed a restructuring beyond the coaching bench.
Former player Adel Bourouba has been named general coordinator, a role intended to strengthen organisational efficiency and improve communication between administrative officials, technical staff and players.
According to the same statement, Dziri and his backroom team immediately began work, overseeing Thursday evening’s training session at the Dar El Beïda stadium.
The session forms part of preparations for Saturday’s league fixture against Étoile Sportive de Ben Aknoun, scheduled for matchday 20 of the professional championship.
The 53-year-old brings considerable domestic experience to the post.
A former Algeria international, Dziri previously represented NA Hussein Dey and USM Alger during his playing career.
As a coach, he has managed several Algerian clubs, most recently Paradou AC.
USM Khenchela currently occupy 11th place in the Ligue 1 Mobilis standings with 22 points and have two games in hand ahead of the upcoming round of fixtures.
The appointment signals a new chapter for the club as it seeks stability and improvement in the second half of the season.
