Jeremie Frimpong set for Liverpool return next week

Jeremie Frimpong is closing in on a return for Liverpool, with Arne Slot confirming the right-back is expected to be back in action next week if his recovery continues as planned.

The Dutch-Ghanaian defender will miss this weekend’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest, extending a brief spell on the sidelines that has left Liverpool short of natural right-back options.

“[Jeremie Frimpong] will not be involved this weekend yet,” Slot explained, before adding that the club are optimistic about having him available for the upcoming game against West Ham United. Liverpool have managed his workload carefully, keen to avoid any setbacks as the season enters a crucial stage.

Frimpong has quietly become an important part of the squad since arriving at Anfield, making 11 Premier League appearances this season and providing one assist with his energetic runs down the flank.

His current contract with the club runs until June 2030, underlining how central he is to Liverpool’s long-term plans. A successful return next week would be a timely boost for Slot, who will welcome back the 25-year-old’s pace, width and attacking threat on the right side of defence.
