D.R Congo attacker Samuel Essende is ready for the next chapter of his career after sealing a move to Swiss giants BSC Young Boys.
The Bern-based club have officially confirmed the arrival of the striker, who joins from FC Augsburg on a long-term deal running until June 2029.
Reports indicate that the agreement is worth approximately €4.75 million, including performance-related bonuses. The move marks a significant step for Essende, who will now be tasked with adding fresh firepower to Young Boys’ attacking options as they look to maintain their domestic dominance and compete strongly on the European stage.
Born in France, Essende has chosen to represent the Democratic Republic of Congo at international level and has so far earned 11 caps. His football journey began at the youth academy of Paris Saint-Germain, before he made his professional breakthrough in 2018 with Belgian side KAS Eupen.
The 28-year-old has since built a diverse career across several European leagues, featuring in France and Portugal, where he enjoyed a prolific spell with Vizela, netting 16 goals in 35 appearances.
He moved to Augsburg in the summer of 2024 and went on to score 12 goals in 50 outings in the Bundesliga, further underlining his consistency at the top level.
Now in Bern, Essende is expected to inject new energy into the Young Boys frontline. He will wear the number 99 shirt as he looks to make an immediate impact and help his new club push for success on multiple fronts.
