Former Tim Sherwood has urged Liverpool to prepare for the inevitable departure of Mohamed Salah this summer, insisting the Egyptian forward deserves to exit as a celebrated winner.
Talks have reportedly begun between Salah’s representatives and Al-Ittihad, signalling a potential move to the Saudi Pro League.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Sherwood highlighted Salah’s transformative impact at Liverpool.
“Let’s get it straight: I think he is one of the best foreign imports we’ve seen in the Premier League,” he said, praising the forward’s consistency and quality despite a dip in form this season.
Sherwood acknowledged tensions between Salah and manager Arne Slot, noting that off-field issues may have influenced his campaign, but remained adamant about the inevitability of the transfer.
“I think 100 per cent he will be leaving in the summer and I think he’s having a swansong now,” he added, underlining the sense that Liverpool’s star is preparing for a final curtain call at Anfield.
The former Aston Villa boss emphasized that regardless of whether Salah secures further silverware, his contribution to Liverpool is undeniable.
“In my opinion, I think he 100 per cent leaves that club and he gets a fantastic ovation at the end of the season, whether that’s with a bit of silverware or not. He deserves silverware, he certainly does, but whatever happens, he’s been a magnificent servant to the club.”
Salah’s potential exit would mark the end of an era for Liverpool, where the forward has consistently delivered goals, assists, and moments of brilliance, becoming one of the Premier League’s most prolific imports.
