Vice president of RS Berkane, Abdel Mjid Madrane, is anticipating a tough clash against Al Hilal in the CAF Champions League quarterfinal.
The Moroccan outfit has been paired against the Sudanese giants following the draw in Cairo on Tuesday morning, as the continental club competition heats up.
Speaking after the draw, Abdel Mjid Madrane highlighted the difficulty in facing Al Hilal, while eyeing a final with an Egyptian opponent.
“Renaissance Berkane is a very strong team and becomes even stronger when they face strong teams.”
“Facing Al-Hilal of Sudan is extremely difficult. I prefer to face Egyptian teams in the final and play the second leg in Morocco.” He told ON Sport.
The draw for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League resulted in Al-Ahly being drawn against Esperance of Tunisia, while Pyramids will play against the Moroccan Royal Arm
The first leg of the quarterfinal has been scheduled for the weekend of March 13-15, 2026, with the reverse fixture slated for March 20-22, 2026.
These clashes mark the start of the knockout journey toward the May final, with all eight remaining clubs dreaming of continental glory.
The winner of the match between RS Berkane and Al-Hilal will battle it out with either FAR Rabat or Pyramids FC in the semifinals.
With tight scheduling across domestic and continental calendars, managing squad rotation, travel and pressure will be crucial over these two legs.
Fans across Africa can now circle mid-March on their calendars as the continent’s premier club competition enters its most dramatic phase yet.
