Zamalek head coach Moatamed Gamal has set his sights on victory as his side prepares to host Kaizer Chiefs in the final group stage match of the CAF Champions League.
The Egyptian club faces a pivotal encounter today against the South African outfit, with Zamalek, Kaizer Chiefs, and Al-Mary still vying for a place in the quarter-finals, while ZESCO has already been eliminated.
Currently second in Group D, Zamalek aims to overtake the Soweto giants at the top.
“The match has only one outcome, which is winning in order to continue competing,” the coach told reporters, as per Ysscores.
Reflecting on the team’s recent performances, he added: “The team finished the match against Smouha and is fully focused on facing Kaizer Chiefs to make up for the previous round’s loss against Zesco, which was marked by bad luck for the team.”
Gamal emphasized his mission for both the team and fans: “I am focused on working with the players to achieve victory, make the fans happy, lead the group, and qualify for the quarter-finals.”
Addressing squad availability, the coach noted, “Unfortunately, we will be without Adam Kaid for a while, and we are waiting for the return of Ahmed Fattouh and Mahmoud Bentayek, but things are improving, and we will have all the players back soon,” he added.
Kick-off for the decisive clash is set for 16:00 GMT.
