Rani Khedira is set for a major milestone in his career after deciding to represent the Tunisia national team at international level.
According to Bild, citing Tunisian media, the 32-year-old Union Berlin midfielder has opted to join Tunisia’s setup going forward, opening the door to a possible World Cup appearance.
Khedira, who holds both German and Tunisian citizenship, is eligible to make the switch under FIFA regulations. He previously featured for several German youth national teams but never broke into the senior Germany squad, leaving his international future open. Now, aligning with the Tunisian Football Federation gives him a realistic chance of playing on the biggest stage.
With Tunisia targeting qualification for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, Khedira could finally experience a major tournament late in his career. For the Stuttgart-born midfielder, this move is likely his first and last opportunity to shine at that level, adding emotional weight to his decision.
It marks a new chapter for both player and country, as Tunisia gain an experienced Bundesliga professional while Khedira pursues a long-held ambition before the final stretch of his playing days.
