RS Berkane head coach Mouine Chaabani has received reassuring news on the fitness of several key players as his side prepares for a decisive African Champions League group stage clash against Nigeria’s Rivers United.
RS Berkane will host the Nigerian outfit next Saturday at the Municipal Stadium in Berkane, with the match forming part of the sixth and final round of the group stage, where qualification stakes are expected to be high.
The club confirmed that its latest training session brought welcome developments, most notably the return of Yassine Bahiri to full group training.
The midfielder has successfully completed his rehabilitation and treatment programme and is now fully ready to reintegrate with the squad.
The session also marked the return of Tayeb Boukhriss, who has recovered completely from the muscle injury that had sidelined him in recent weeks. His availability adds further depth to Berkane’s options ahead of the crucial encounter.
Team doctor Talal Al-Fadhili also provided reassurance regarding Abdul Haq Assal, explaining that the player’s injury is not a cause for concern and that he is expected to be fit and available for selection in the upcoming match.
According to the club, the only player currently undergoing treatment is international goalkeeper Munir Al-Mohammadi Al-Kajawi. The experienced shot-stopper is recovering from a successful surgical operation and remains in the rehabilitation phase, with his return to group training anticipated within the next ten weeks.
With several key players back in contention, Chaabani will approach the Rivers United fixture with renewed confidence as Renaissance Berkane aim to secure a positive result in their final group stage outing.
