Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior says January recall Mamadou Sarr is in line for a major role in the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Hull City.
The young defender returned from his loan spell at Strasbourg last month and has quickly impressed the new coaching staff at Cobham.
“Mamadou has a great chance to start the game. It’s very difficult for a player to move clubs in January. He’s only been here a week so he needs time to bed in and climatise. He’ll definitely see the pitch at some point on Friday,” Rosenior said, highlighting both his potential and the need for patience as Sarr settles into life back at Chelsea.
Rosenior’s words underline how highly the club rates Sarr and hint that the FA Cup could be his platform to stake a claim for more regular minutes in the second half of the season.
With Chelsea juggling domestic commitments and cup duties, the tie at Hull offers an ideal moment to test fresh options and give emerging players a real opportunity to impress under the lights.
