Arsenal wing-back Charles Sagoe Jr has joined Swedish side Kalmar FF on loan until January 2027, and the 21-year-old is eager to prove his abilities on the pitch.
Sagoe Jr, who came through Arsenal’s academy after moving from Fulham in 2015, sees the move as a key step in his development and is determined to make an immediate impact in the Allsvenskan.
Since signing his first professional contract with Arsenal in July 2022, the English-Ghanaian has gained valuable experience, making his senior debut against Brentford in the Carabao Cup and spending loan spells with Swansea City in the Championship and Shrewsbury Town in League One.
These opportunities allowed him to hone his tactical awareness and versatility on the flanks, skills he is keen to demonstrate in Sweden.
“It feels great to be here, and I am really excited to get started, start training, and get to know my new teammates,” Sagoe Jr said.
“I am looking forward to showing my qualities on the pitch and helping to win matches. This is a good step for me and my continued career.”
The young wing-back also stressed that Kalmar’s environment played a big role in his decision.
“After the conversations with the sports director and the management staff, I got a strong feeling that this was the right environment for me. Now I want to take advantage of the opportunity and help the team achieve good results,” he added.
