Fouzi Lekjaa underlined that hosting the Africa Cup of Nations will be one of the clearest signs of Morocco’s development and readiness to co‑host the 2030 World Cup.

Speaking in a video interview, he stressed that organising a successful AFCON is not just a sporting objective, but a national project that showcases infrastructure, governance and Morocco’s growing international stature.

Lekjaa highlighted the central role of Moroccan businesses in this vision, describing private companies as a fundamental pillar in delivering a world‑class World Cup alongside public investment.

He explained that preparing for 2030 goes beyond stadiums to include transport, services and technology, and that this requires close partnership between the state and the corporate sector. According to him, AFCON will serve as a dress rehearsal, allowing Morocco to test logistics, organisation and fan experience on a continental scale.

He also pointed out that major tournaments offer strong economic opportunities for local firms and jobs for young people.

Lekjaa insisted that Morocco is determined to honour the trust placed in it as a 2030 co‑host, using AFCON and other events to confirm the country’s status as a stable, ambitious hub for global football.
