David Moyes has moved to cool the hype around Chelsea loanee Tyrique George, stressing that the young forward is at Everton to learn rather than to carry the team straight away.
Speaking ahead of upcoming fixtures, the Everton boss explained that George is still in the early stages of his development and must be allowed to grow at his own pace. Moyes said he likes what he has seen so far but warned against putting superstar expectations on the 20‑year‑old after his deadline‑day arrival.
“I am seeing a bit of him which I like but again he’s a young player. He’s still a young boy. So, we have to be careful and we don’t expect too much from him. It is not as if we are getting a Jack Grealish,” Moyes remarked, underlining his desire to shield the player from excessive pressure.
George is regarded as a highly rated academy product, having made several substitute appearances for Chelsea before his loan move.
He has featured in five Premier League games this season, gaining valuable experience at the top level as he adjusts to Everton’s demands.
