Al Ahly have finalised a decision on the future of their highly rated youngster Belal Attia after reaching an agreement with Spanish side Racing Santander that will see the player begin a new professional chapter in Europe, as part of the club’s strategy to develop emerging talents.
According to a source, the deal will see Attia join Racing Santander on loan for a period of one-and-a-half seasons.
The agreement includes a clause granting Al Ahly the option to either extend the loan or proceed with a permanent transfer at a later stage, depending on the player’s market value and performance during his time in Spain.
Racing Santander currently compete in Spain’s Segunda División and are enjoying an impressive campaign. The club sits second in the league standings with 44 points, just one point behind the leaders, as the race for promotion to La Liga intensifies.
The 18-year-old Attia is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Egyptian football, with several German media outlets previously labelling him “Little Salah” due to his pace, technical ability and attacking flair.
Al Ahly’s management believes the Spanish experience could play a key role in revitalising the youngster’s career and helping him rediscover his technical sharpness, before a final decision is taken on his long-term future.
Attia’s move follows a similar decision by Al Ahly earlier in the current winter transfer window, when the club agreed to allow another young talent, Hamza Abdel Karim, to complete a move to Barcelona in Spain, further highlighting the club’s growing commitment to nurturing its prospects through European exposure.
