Ghana forward Kamaldeen Sulemana came off the bench to score for Atalanta on Thursday night, helping the team to secure a 3-0 victory against Juventus to reach the semi-finals of this season’s Coppa Italia.
The breakthrough came midway through the first half after a stoppage in play saw referee Michael Fabbri consult VAR over an earlier Atalanta penalty appeal.
Following the review, a spot kick was awarded, and Gianluca Scamacca kept his composure to dispatch an unstoppable effort past Mattia Perin, sending the ball into the right side of the net to give Atalanta the lead.
Juventus struggled to find a response as Atalanta maintained control for long periods, and their dominance was rewarded again late in the game.
In the 77th minute, Kamaldeen Sulemana reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the penalty area and calmly beat the goalkeeper to double his team’s advantage.
