Wydad Athletic Club are set to welcome back captain Nordin Amrabat for their upcoming CAF Confederation Cup fixture against Kenyan side Nairobi United, scheduled for next Sunday as part of the fifth round of group stage matches.
The experienced midfielder is available again after serving a one-match suspension imposed following the accumulation of three yellow cards. His absence was felt in Wydad’s previous outing against Congolese opponents Maniema, a match he was forced to sit out due to the ban.
Preparations for the crucial encounter are already underway, with the Wydad delegation expected to travel to Kenya next Friday as the team gears up for the decisive group clash.
Despite their recent setback, the Red Club remain joint leaders of their group alongside Maniema. Both sides sit on nine points after four matches, setting the stage for an intense battle as the group approaches its final stages.
Wydad head into the Nairobi trip looking to bounce back after last Sunday’s narrow defeat to Maniema, where they fell 2-1, and the return of Amrabat is expected to provide a timely boost to their hopes in the competition.
