Russia-Congo defender Mark Mampassi is being linked with a move from Lokomotiv Moscow to Eintracht Braunschweig in Germany’s 2. Bundesliga, with the switch currently rated at a 52% probability according to transfer data.
The 22-year-old centre-back, valued at €400,000, is understood to be under consideration as Braunschweig explore defensive options for the next window. With no contract expiry listed in the latest data, there is also speculation that Mampassi’s situation at Lokomotiv could yet open the door to a low-cost deal or even a free-agent scenario if talks over his future stall.
Born in Donetsk and standing at 1.85m, Mampassi has already built a varied CV despite his age. After progressing through Shakhtar Donetsk’s youth ranks – moving from the U17s to the U19s – he gained early senior experience on loan at FC Mariupol in Ukraine before switching to Lokomotiv Moscow in 2022. Loan spells at Antalyaspor in Türkiye and KV Kortrijk in Belgium followed, giving him exposure to three different leagues by the age of 20.
His market value, which peaked at €1.5m shortly after joining Lokomotiv, has since trended down to €400k, reflecting an inconsistent trajectory but also the possibility of a relatively inexpensive gamble for Braunschweig. The German club are thought to be targeting players who can add physical presence and versatility at the back, and Mampassi’s main position as a right-footed centre-back fits that profile.
Listed with both Russian and Congolese nationality, Mampassi has yet to translate his early promise into long-term stability at one club. A move to the 2.
