Lamine Fanne has completed a permanent move from Luton Town to Venezia FC, joining the Italian club from the start of his contract on 2026-02-01. The 22-year-old central midfielder leaves English side Luton for a new chapter in Serie B, with the deal confirmed between the two clubs. His contract with Venezia runs until 2026-06-30, after which he is scheduled to become a free agent unless an extension is agreed.

The transfer takes Fanne from England’s League One to Italy’s second tier, with Venezia securing a player currently valued at €2.50m. While the exact transfer fee has not been disclosed, the move is recorded as a standard transfer and marks Venezia’s latest investment in youthful midfield talent. It also represents a swift change of scenery for the midfielder, who only joined Luton from AIK earlier in the 2024/25 season before this subsequent switch to Italy.

Born in Kandiounkou and holding both Spanish and Senegalese nationality, Fanne now continues his career outside his home federations’ domestic systems, having never played senior club football in Spain or Senegal. Instead, his pathway has taken him through Sweden, England and now Italy. Standing at 1.87 m and operating primarily as a central midfielder, he adds physical presence and technical balance in the middle of the park, attributes that likely appealed to Venezia as they look to strengthen for life in Serie B.

Fanne’s rise has been rapid in market terms. During his time at AIK in Sweden, his value climbed from €25k in mid-2023 to €4m by the end of 2024, reflecting his growing reputation in the Allsvenskan. After moving to Luton, his valuation was adjusted to €3m in May 2025 and most recently set at €2.50m in November 2025, still a substantial figure for a player in his early twenties. That trajectory underlines why Venezia saw an opportunity to bring him in at a key stage of his development.

His transfer history charts a busy early career. Fanne left CE Constància U19 in Spain for AIK in 2022/23, establishing himself enough to earn a move to Luton Town ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. Shortly after signing for Luton, he returned to AIK on loan before going back to England at the end of that spell. Now, with this confirmed move to Venezia, he adds a third senior league to his résumé, having already featured in the Swedish top flight and England’s League One before stepping into Italian football.

Internationally, Fanne’s dual eligibility for Spain and Senegal gives added intrigue to his profile, though there is no national-team data in the current record to indicate any senior caps. His development at club level in a tactically demanding competition such as Serie B could strengthen his case for future consideration by either federation.

With his deal at Venezia running until 2026-06-30, there is also a clear contractual horizon: if his progress continues, he could either attract bids from higher-level clubs before that date or enter the market as a free agent afterwards, giving him and his representatives flexibility over the next step. For now, the move to Venezia confirms his status as a Spanish-Senegalese midfielder willing to build his career abroad, and his performances in Italy will determine how high the next rung on the ladder might be.
