Simon Adingra is being linked with a move from Sunderland to Monaco, with the Ligue 1 side monitoring the Ivorian winger’s situation amid uncertainty over his long‑term future.
The 24-year-old left winger, currently valued at €22.00m, is the subject of fresh speculation on the continent, with reports in France suggesting Monaco are exploring an approach but with no clear indication yet of how likely a deal is, reflected in a reported “?” probability of the transfer. Adingra’s contract details at Sunderland are not publicly listed, fuelling talk that the Premier League club could face a decision over whether to cash in or risk his value declining further and, eventually, the prospect of him moving on for significantly less or even as a free agent in future.
Adingra joined Sunderland from Brighton & Hove Albion ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, shortly after his market value had peaked at around €30m during his spell on the south coast. Since then, his valuation has dipped slightly to €22.00m, despite remaining a regular attacking threat from the left flank, cutting inside onto his preferred right foot. In Sunderland’s recent Premier League outing against Brighton in late January, a 2-1 home defeat, Adingra was lively down the left and involved in several of Sunderland’s best counter-attacks, though he did not register a goal or assist as his former club edged the contest.
Born in Abobo on 1 January 2002, the Côte d’Ivoire international came through the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana before moving to FC Nordsjaelland and then Union Saint-Gilloise, where a series of strong performances in Belgium accelerated his rise on the European scene. A subsequent move to Brighton exposed him to Premier League and top-flight European football before his switch to Sunderland.
For Monaco, Adingra’s pace and one‑v‑one ability would fit their long‑standing model of investing in developing attacking players with resale potential. For the winger himself, a move to Ligue 1 – if it materialises – could offer a fresh platform to rebuild his market value and shape the next defining chapter of his career.
