Al Masry coach Nabil Kouki has expressed his displeasure following defeat against Al Masry in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage clash, stressing the side did not deserve to lose the match.
Zamalek prevailed with a 2-1 win over their Egyptian counterparts in the fourth round fixture, held at the new Suez Stadium.
At the post-match conference, the Tunisian tactician insists his outfit did not deserve to lose the match considering their performance.
“We lost focus when Zamalek scored, and that’s football, and we must learn to concentrate on set pieces. We had chances and attempts, but the final passes lacked focus and the choices were wrong.”
“We were playing against Zamalek, which is a big team, not just any team, and it’s natural that they would get opportunities during the match.”
“We lost a match we shouldn’t have lost, and perhaps a draw would have been fair, but in the end we have two matches left, we are in second place, and we have a match in South Africa where we must get points.”
Zamalek’s tally rose to eight points, putting them at the top of the group, while Al Masry occupies second place with seven points, ahead of Kaizer Chiefs on head-to-head record.
Al-Masry will meet Kaizer Chiefs in their next match away from home, and if they manage to win, they will secure qualification for the quarter-final.
