Walid Nassi is on the verge of leaving Wydad AC for Libyan giants Al-Ittihad, completing what is expected to be another high-profile transfer from the Moroccan side.
The move would make Nassi the third Wydad player to join the Libyan club recently, following South African Thembinkosi Lorch and Burkinabe Stephane Aziz Ki, whose transfers were both completed for record fees.
Nassi’s exit comes after Wydad coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem decided to exclude him from his tactical plans for the upcoming season.
With the midfielder’s contract nearing its end, Wydad’s management is eager to secure a financial return rather than risk losing him on a free transfer. Sources close to the club suggest the deal is in its final stages, with an official announcement expected in the coming days.
Nassi He began his senior career with amateur side Châteaudun in 2018 before moving to Saint-Georges-sur-Orge, impressing despite the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2020, he joined Stade Briochin’s reserve team and quickly earned promotion to the first team, where he made a significant impression during the 2021–2022 season.
His performances in France earned him a professional contract with Dijon in June 2022. Competing in Ligue 2, Nassi made over fifty appearances, contributing goals and assists while developing into a versatile midfielder.
In the summer of 2024, Nassi moved to Wydad AC on a free transfer, but his time in Casablanca did not reach expectations due to limited playing opportunities and coaching changes.
Despite showing flashes of quality in pre-season friendlies for the 2025–2026 campaign, it became clear that he would not be central to Wydad’s plans.
