Barcelona have decided to end their pursuit of Cameroonian forward Karl Etta Eyong, with the club deeming the striker’s valuation too high, according to reports from Diario Sport.
The Catalan giants had attempted to sign Eyong during the summer of 2025, but Villarreal stood firm at the time, refusing to negotiate and insisting on the player’s €30 million release clause.
With the striker still in the development phase of his career, Barcelona are no longer convinced that such a significant investment represents good value, prompting them to step away from further talks.
Despite Barcelona’s withdrawal, interest in Eyong remains strong elsewhere, with several Premier League clubs reportedly willing to meet the asking price. The 22-year-old continues his progress in Spain, gaining experience and refining his game.
Barcelona are expected to keep monitoring the Cameroonian from a distance, supported by their positive relationship with the player’s representatives.
A return to the negotiating table has not been completely ruled out, particularly if Eyong delivers an impressive goal-scoring run before the end of the season.
