Al Ahly claimed a comfortable 3–1 victory over Wadi Degla at Cairo Stadium, delivering a controlled performance in the 16th round of the Egyptian Premier League.
Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet opened the scoring in the 25th minute, capitalising on a teasing cross from Ahmed Mostafa Zizo, that the Degla defence failed to clear, before calmly finishing to give the hosts the lead.
Just before the break, Imam Ashour won a penalty after being tripped inside the box, and Zizo stepped up to convert in first-half stoppage time, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 2–0.
Al Ahly continued to press after the interval, with Ashour striking the post from distance before delivering a superb cross that Marwan Othman headed home in the 67th minute for his first goal in the famous red shirt.
Wadi Degla pushed late on and were rewarded when Ziyad Osama fired in a consolation goal deep into added time.
The result lifts Al Ahly to 26 points from 13 matches, moving them up to third place, while Degla remain fourth on 23 points despite their spirited late efforts.
