Spanish side Racing Santander have made an official inquiry into the possibility of signing Al Ahly youth star Bilal Attia during the current winter transfer window.
Attia, widely regarded as one of Al Ahly’s brightest young talents, has already gained international experience through training stints abroad.
The 18-year-old has previously spent time with German clubs Stuttgart and Hannover as part of his development.
According to reports, Racing’s approach to Al Ahly did not include any financial details or an official offer, leaving the Egyptian club to decide on the next steps.
The reports add that Al Ahly is expected to respond to the Spanish club within 24 hours, after which negotiations may formally begin.
Bilal Attia gained widespread attention after his performances for Egypt’s youth team in the 2008-born category at the Junior World Cup last November.
He played in four matches, scoring once and providing one assist.
At club level, Attia has made two appearances for Al Ahly’s senior side, both coming in the League Cup, totalling 19 minutes of game time.
