Cameroon international Jean-Charles Castelletto has explained why he missed the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, held in Morocco.
The 30-year-old centre-back was named in the Indomitable Lions squad for the continental showpiece, but ultimately, he did not make the trip for the tournament in the North African country.
His absence quickly sparked rumours, with some suggesting his withdrawal had nothing to do with football. Few days after the tournament, the experienced defender has finally lift the lid as to why he missed the AFCON.
‘I don’t necessarily want to talk about it, excuse me, because I plan to talk about it later” he told RMC Sports.
Pressed further, the tough-tackling defender eventually addressed the speculation head-on, putting an end to the rumours.
‘It was indeed a withdrawal due to injury, there’s no problem,’ he admitted.
Despite not featuring at the tournament, Jean-Charles Castelletto followed Cameroon’s campaign closely and shared his thoughts on the team’s performance in Morocco.
‘Honestly, I really enjoyed what I saw. The players showed solidarity, the group was united, and the coach was humble and confident in his team. The Lions presented a very positive image.’
