Al Ahly completed their final preparations on Thursday evening ahead CAF Champions League Group B clash with Tanzania’s Young Africans.
The Egyptian giants began their campaign with a convincing 4-1 victory over Algeria’s JS Kabylie, before settling for a 1-1 draw against Morocco’s FAR Rabat in the second round.
Both Al Ahly and Young Africans sit atop Group B with four points each, having each won one match and drawn another in their opening two fixtures.
Meanwhile, Raja Casablanca and JS Kabylie occupy third and fourth places respectively, with one point apiece.
Danish coach Jess Torup, who was appointed on October 8, 2025, is under contract until June 30, 2028. He has overseen 16 games across various competitions, including the Egyptian Premier League, the Champions League, the Egyptian League Cup and the Egyptian Super Cup.
Under Torup’s guidance, Al Ahly lifted the Egyptian Super Cup after a 2-0 victory over rivals Zamalek in the final.
In all competitions, Al Ahly have recorded eight wins, three draws and five losses under Torup.
However, their form dipped during the period when national teams were engaged in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, as the League Cup resumed. In six League Cup matches, Al Ahly managed just one win and suffered five defeats.
