Following the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the continent’s focus shifts back to club football as the CAF interclub competitions return this weekend.
Both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup resume with Matchday 3 of the group stages, beginning Friday, January 23, 2026.
Matchday 3 marks the halfway point of the group phase and could prove decisive, with quarter-final qualification hanging in the balance.
CAF Champions League
The Champions League returns on Friday with a high-profile clash in Alexandria, where record champions Al Ahly of Egypt will host Tanzania’s Young Africans.
The match will also mark the continental debut of Allan Okello for Young Africans in Group B. Both teams currently sit on four points after recording a win and a draw in their opening two games.
Later on Friday, South African heavyweights Mamelodi Sundowns, featuring Ugandan international goalkeeper Denis Onyango, welcome Sudan’s Al Hilal Omdurman in Pretoria.
This Group C fixture is expected to shape the standings at the midway point, with both sides also level on four points.
Saturday will feature more key encounters, including a repeat of the CAF Super Cup as reigning champions Pyramids of Egypt take on RS Berkane.
