Dayot Upamecano finishes 26th in Ballon d’Or 2026 rankings

France defender of Senegal descent Dayot Upamecano has finished 26th in the 2026 Ballon d’Or rankings, placing the Bayern Munich centre-back among the 30 best footballers in the world.

The 27-year-old French defender featured in 42 competitive matches for Bayern last season, helping the German club win the Bundesliga and the DFB Cup while reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Upamecano Plays Key Role for France

Upamecano was also a regular starter for France at the 2026 World Cup.

The centre-back featured in all eight of France’s matches as the national team progressed to the semi-finals of the tournament.

Four Bayern Players Nominated

Upamecano is one of four Bayern Munich players nominated for the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Díaz are also among the club’s nominees.
