RS Berkane goalkeeper Munir Mohamedi remains a major doubt for the upcoming CAF Champions League clash against Pyramids FC.
Mohamedi succumbed to an injury while in action for the Moroccan national team at the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, hosted by Morocco from December 21 to January 18.
He has since been under close medical supervision by Morocco’s medical team, while RS Berkane’s medical team continues to work to get him fit for the Pyramids match.
Sources close to Africasoccer.com indicates that Mohamedi’s chances of playing against the African champions appears to be slim, pending a final decision from the Berkane team doctor.
El Mohammadi’s injury has reignited criticism of national team coach Walid Regragui, following his decision to call up several injured players for the recent Africa Cup of Nations. This impacted the team’s tactical options during the tournament, especially since the RS Berkane goalkeeper was already injured before joining the Atlas Lions’ training camp.
The continental tournament also saw several other national team players suffer injuries, including Romain Saïss, Sofyan Amrabat, Hamza Ighamane, and Azzedine Ounahi, further intensifying the criticism directed at Regragui.
The Pyramids FC delegation is expected to arrive at Oujda Airport on a private plane before heading to Saïdia, where they will be based in preparation for this important continental match.
Pyramids will be guests of RS Berkane next Saturday evening at the Municipal Stadium in Berkane, in a crucial match that will determine who qualifies from the group stage.
