Egyptian Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi has revealed intensified efforts to resolve the long-running land dispute involving Zamalek’s plot in Sixth of October City.
Speaking at a press conference, he explained that coordinated government meetings are planned to reach a legal and practical settlement that protects the club’s interests.
Sobhi said officials are working to arrange a new session with the Ministry of Housing in the coming period to discuss scenarios for restoring or compensating the withdrawn land. He stressed that the goal is to agree on a clear formula that ends the crisis and allows Zamalek to move forward with its development plans.
He also pointed to an upcoming meeting with the Ministry of Religious Endowments to clarify any issues related to ownership of Zamalek’s main headquarters land. This step aims to close any legal gaps around the club’s properties and ensure stability for its future projects.
Sobhi underlined that the Ministry of Youth and Sports is not focused on Zamalek alone, but on major fan-based clubs across Egypt. He mentioned support for establishing a football company at Ismaily and advancing stadium plans for Al Masry, as part of a broader strategy to strengthen historic clubs.
The minister confirmed that state backing for the Egypt national team remains strong, with full commitment to maintaining positive relations with all Arab nations, especially Morocco, which recently hosted the Africa Cup of Nations.
He added that there are ambitious plans to invest in talented youngsters and maximize the value of the Egyptian Premier League to serve both clubs and the national side.
