Al Ahly are on the verge of completing a move for Jordan national team star Odeh Al-Fakhouri, in what would be a historic first signing of a Jordanian player for the Cairo giants.
A source inside the club told Kooora that the 20-year-old winger is very close to pulling on the famous red shirt after advanced negotiations.
Al Fakhouri currently plays for Al Hussein Irbid, having joined them in the summer of 2024 from Oman Club. His contract reportedly includes a release clause not exceeding 150,000 dollars, a figure Al Ahly are ready to trigger to finalise the transfer. The same source confirmed that the player has already given his approval to move to Egypt, with only final formalities separating him from a switch to the African champions.
Operating as an attacking winger, Al Fakhouri has been one of the standout young talents in the Jordanian league this season. He has played 13 matches, scoring 6 goals and providing 1 assist, numbers that underline his direct impact in the final third.
On the international stage, he has earned 6 caps for Jordan and impressed at the Arab Cup in Qatar at the end of last year, helping Al Nashama finish runners-up.
No Jordanian has ever worn Al Ahly’s colours before, with only a few Jordanians previously appearing in the Egyptian Premier League, such as Khaled Saad at Zamalek and goalkeeper Amer Shafi at Ismaily, while Ghaith Al Madadha currently plays for Talaea El Gaish.
Al Ahly have already signed goalkeeper Hamza Alaa, striker Marwan Othman, defender Amr El Gazar and right-back Ahmed Eid this winter, and have an agreement in place with Moroccan left-back Youssef Belamri.
If the Al Fakhouri deal is completed, he will be registered as an under-age player.
