Morgan Bokele is set to leave FC Metz on a temporary basis, with the Cameroonian winger closing in on a loan move to Ligue 2 side USL Dunkerque in search of regular playing time.
The 21-year-old, who progressed through Metz’s youth system, has found opportunities limited this season and is now expected to spend the remainder of the campaign away from his boyhood club.
According to journalist Loïc Tanzi, an agreement is close for Bokele to join Dunkerque on loan until the end of the season, with no option to buy included in the deal.
The move is viewed as a practical solution for all parties involved. For Bokele, it offers the chance to gain consistency and minutes at a crucial stage of his development.
For Dunkerque, currently fourth in Ligue 2 with 33 points, the arrival of an attacking wide player would help address a recent gap in the squad following the departure of Gessime Yassine, who has completed a transfer to Strasbourg.
Dunkerque are firmly involved in the promotion play-off race and are keen to reinforce their attacking options as the season enters a decisive phase.
Bokele’s versatility has been highlighted as a key asset, with the right-footed winger comfortable operating on the left flank while also capable of featuring on the opposite side if required.
His pace and direct style are seen as qualities that could add depth and unpredictability to the team’s forward line.
Although interest had been shown from clubs in Belgium and the Netherlands, Dunkerque has emerged as the preferred destination for the Lyon-born player.
The prospect of regular football in a competitive Ligue 2 environment is understood to have played a significant role in that decision.
For FC Metz, the loan would allow the club to manage its squad effectively during the winter transfer window while ensuring that one of its academy graduates continues to develop through first-team exposure elsewhere.
Bokele’s temporary departure comes at a time when Metz are balancing short-term objectives with the long-term progression of young players.
If finalised in the coming days, the move would mark an important step in Bokele’s career, offering him the platform to rediscover momentum and contribute immediately at a club with clear ambitions for the remainder of the season.
