Five players of Egyptian football powerhouse, Zamalek have been given a two-day break following their participation in the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.
Zamalek are preparing to face Al Masry in the third round of the Confederation Cup group stage, scheduled for January 25, 2026.
The Egyptian national team returned to Cairo last Sunday after finishing fourth at the continental showpiece, held in the North African country.
Upon arrival, Zamalek coach Moataz Gamal has given five players, who represented the seven time AFCON champions at the just ended tournament a two-day break.
The players included, Mohamed Sobhi, Hossam Abdel-Maguid, Mohamed Ismail, Ahmed Fatouh and Mohamed Shehata.
However, the aforementioned players are expected to join their teammate on Wednesday, January 21, in preparation for the Confederation Cup match this weekend.
Zamalek, along with Al Masry, South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs, and Zambia’s Zesco United, are in Group D of the Confederation Cup.
Currently, Zamalek sit second place with 4 points, while Al Masry leads the group with 6 points.
Zamalek achieved a victory against Zesco United with a clean goal, before drawing against Kaizer Chiefs away from home with one goal for each.
