The Moroccan Football Federation has confirmed its intention to file a formal legal protest over events surrounding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, according to reports.
Senegal claimed the championship after a tense 1-0 victory over hosts Morocco, but the match was marred by controversy and unrest.
According to beIN SPORTS, the Moroccan Federation plans to lodge an official complaint, with the central grievance focused on the temporary withdrawal of most Senegalese players from the field during the final.
The incident sparked unrest among fans, with clashes reported between Senegalese supporters and security personnel after the team initially refused to continue following a late penalty award for Morocco.
Despite the turmoil, the match resumed and remained deadlocked through 90 minutes. It was only in the early stages of extra time that Senegal sealed the title.
Pape Gueye produced a stunning left-footed strike from the edge of the box to break the stalemate, sending the Senegal bench into celebration and leaving the stadium in shock.
Morocco had earlier been awarded a late penalty after a VAR review, but Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy denied Brahim Diaz, saving the spot-kick and forcing extra time.
