Egypt midfielder Mahmoud Trezeguet has stressed that the Pharaohs are determined to beat Nigeria for the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Pharaohs will clash with the Super Eagles on Saturday, January 17, to fight for a third-place finish at what has been an outstanding tournament hosted in Morocco.
Speaking ahead of the upcoming showdown, Trezeguet commended the overall performance of the Egypt team, although they failed to achieve their ambition of winning the trophy.
“We were playing to win the title, which was our goal from the beginning of the tournament. The coaching staff, led by Hossam Hassan, performed their role perfectly, and everyone did their best. We did our utmost, but luck was not on our side,” the forward said.
He further assured that every player in camp is ready to contribute to ensure they beat Nigeria to win the bronze medal.
“The Nigerian national team is a strong team and includes great players, but we are ready to win,” Trezeguet said.
The bronze medal match is scheduled to begin at 16:00 GMT on Saturday.
