Nigeria’s head coach, Eric Chelle, has applauded Walid Regragui for guiding Morocco to the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, describing the achievement as a positive moment for African football.
Reacting to Morocco’s success, Chelle commended the Atlas Lions’ head coach for his work throughout the tournament and the impact of the team’s run.
“I am very happy with what Walid Regragui has accomplished. This success is not just for Morocco, but serves African football as a whole. It was a remarkable edition of the Africa Cup of Nations,” he said.
Despite Nigeria falling short in the semi-finals to Morocco on penalties after extra-time, Chelle expressed pride in his players’ efforts and insisted the focus would now shift to finishing the tournament strongly.
“I am disappointed with the result, but I am proud of the group’s performance. We will now turn our focus to the third-place match against Egypt,” the Super Eagles coach added.
Having missed the final, Nigeria will now face Egypt on Saturday to fight for the bronze medal.
