Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has expressed his satisfaction with Achraf Hakimi’s return to peak physical condition during the full-back’s performances for Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, he said: “Hakimi is in good shape, he played the entire match against Cameroon and will be there in the semi-final, which is important for us.”
Enrique underlined that playing high-intensity games with the national team will help the Atlas Lions captain reach his absolute best level. He stressed that it is “important for him to play matches at this moment,” so that when he returns to Paris he will be in the best possible condition to help PSG in the decisive part of the season.
Hakimi’s international rise has been recognised individually as well. He was recently crowned 2025 African Player of the Year by CAF and named in FIFA’s World XI for the 2024-2025 campaign.
Last season with PSG, the Moroccan star produced 10 goals and 12 assists, surpassing his previous best of 9 goals and 10 assists in 45 matches for Borussia Dortmund in 2019-2020.
