Nigeria coach Eric Chelle has heaped praise on Morocco tactician Walid Regragui ahead of their crucial semi-final clash at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
In a high-stake clash on Wednesday, the Super Eagles will battle it out with the Atlas Lions at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah, with victory crucial to securing qualification to the finals of the tournament.
The West African football heavyweights triumphed over Algeria 2-0, setting up a cagy encounter against the host nation, who also defeated Cameroon in the last 8 of the tournament.
Nigeria are expected to arrive in Rabat on Monday ahead of the blockbuster clash against the Atlas Lions. The Super Eagles remain the only team with a perfect record at AFCON 2025, winning all five matches, while Morocco has four wins and a draw.
Ahead of the clash, Eric Chelle, who took over the Nigeria coaching job in January 2024 has heaped praise on his opponent coach.
“The coach… is fantastic… I take my hat off to him,” he said ahead of the crucial semi-final encounter.
“Morocco is a great team… It’s never easy for the tournament host team because there’s enormous pressure,” adding that “there’s a lot of hard work behind everything they’ve achieved?”
Nigeria last won the AFCON title in 2013 and pushing to secure the covetous trophy this term, having missed out to Ivory Coast in the previous edition.
