The head coach of Nigeria, Eric Chelle, has praised Walid Regragui, the head coach of Morocco, describing him as a fantastic tactician.
The Super Eagles are set to lock horns with the Atlas Lions next week in a semi-final clash at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Eric Chelle said, “The coach (Regragui) is fantastic and has great players, and I think he has prepared well for the Africa Cup of Nations. You can’t imagine the work that precedes the preparation for the CAN. I take my hat off to him. For example, the coach analyses the matches of all the teams participating in the CAN, so we are talking about analysing more than 100 matches,” Chelle said.
In what will be a high-stakes match, Eric Chelle hopes the best team will win.
“Morocco qualified for the semi-finals, and they deserve it. I am very happy for him (Regragui) and his team. It will be a great match between two great teams, and the best will win. Now I am proud to face this great coach because he really is a great coach. Try to put yourselves in the shoes of a national team coach who is playing in the Africa Cup of Nations in his own country. ”
The semi-final clash between Morocco and Nigeria will be played on Wednesday, January 14, at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in the capital, Rabat.
