West Ham United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has said that he is proud representing DR Congo as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament heats up.
The former Manchester United star switched allegiance to represent the Leopards and has since established himself as a key member of the team.
Since making his debut in October 2025, the 28-year-old defender has racked up eight appearances for the DR Congo national team.
As the Leopards gears up for the round 16 clash against Algeria, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has shared insights into his choice to commit his international career to DR Congo, describing it as a decision shaped by personal identity, family roots, and pride.
The former Manchester United defender explained that playing for DR Congo was a natural and heartfelt decision, reflecting the connection he has with his heritage.
Speaking candidly, the defender stressed that representing DR Congo was a natural decision. “It’s my country, where my parents come from,” Wan-Bissaka said. “I grew up in a Congolese household, and I’m proud to represent it.”
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is expected to play an instrumental role as they seeks to upset Algeria in the last 16 clash on Tuesday at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
